The Attalla Fire Department was established in 1915 as a volunteer department. The fire department "Circa 1950" became a combination paid and volunteer department and continues to operate the same today. The department serves a city of app: 9 square miles and also 8 miles of I-59.

Chief Charles WilliamsonEach member of the Attalla Fire Department serves as both a firefighter and a medic. Our medic (EMS) division was started in 1979 and has grown to represent an average of 84 plus percent of our yearly runs. The department has on going training of both firefighting and medical training. Captain Jerry Jackson is the departments training officer and heads up the EMS division with assistance from sevral members who have certification in fire and medical training.

The Fire Department's main goal is life saving which consist of fire and medic coverage for our city and to do this mission we have some of the most up todate equipment, that includes three front line pumpers, one 55-ft ladder truck. Our department has delivery system of each pumper being ALS equipped and staffed. Attalla has three fire stations.
